Delivering design excellence to generate profitable growth A strong focus on design has enabled our client to establish a dominant position in a unique international market where customer safety and security are critical elements of product/system specifications. Users of their equipment, which have both portable and installed options, expect ease of use and high levels of reliability. The mix of technologies within these “consumer electronics” products encompasses mechanics, electronics and software. To be successful, the Head of Design must have a clear customer focus and be able to achieve the cost-effective and timely delivery of a number of design projects, running simultaneously, by managing their team of around fifty engineers. Project timescales vary from a matter of weeks to several months and are driven by clearly identified market needs. Probably a graduate engineer, your career to date must include direct experience of managing a large team engaged in multiple design projects preferably in a medium volume electronic equipment manufacturing environment. The company’s products are designed for a specialist consumer market and therefore an understanding of the pressures generated by rapid time to market is essential. Design for outsourced manufacturing adds another dimension to this senior management role. A strong leader, your management ability and team’s achievements will directly impact the future profitable growth of this already successful international company.
